NARRE Warren North may be home to a Bendigo Bank branch soon.
With Berwick the only City of Casey town to currently have one, the second branch is expected to open by end 2013..
The Narre Warren North Steering committee has been working hard to collect pledges, given that there needs to be pledges up to $850,000 to open a new community bank.
Members from the Bendigo Bank and steering committee are confident a cash-in day, set to be held on Saturday 2 March, will deliver the goods.
Bank tellers will be at the Narre Warren North Fire Station to answer any queries prospective customers may have, as well as invite more business for the books.
Steering committee members are excited that they already have more than 300 pledges equating to 425,000.
Chairman of the Narre Warren North Steering Committee Shaun Hill said the bank and Narre Warren North were working together.
“We want it to be a partnership between the bank and the community,” he said.
Members of the committee will also be present at the cash-in day.
Members include representatives from various community organisations, which Mr Hill said provided a great diversity of people.
“The committee is made up of people from the football club, cricket club and golf club … ” he said.
“That way it provides a big variety of people.”
Anyone is welcome to attend the cash-in day which will provide a further chance to get more information, and make a pledge.
The Narre Warren North Fire Station is located at 413 Narre Warren North Road.
Anyone who plans to attend is also asked to bring 100 points of identification.
