Council probe call

I BELIEVE there is a need to have a cursory, if not detailed audit of the council of the City of Casey.
The reasons I have are:
– The increase of council rates from 2004-’05 to 2013-’14. My wages/superannuation has not doubled in this period of time (10 years only).
– The approval of two councillors to attend the Tamworth Music Festival, that was moved and seconded by the two councillors attending.
– The gagging of questions to the council – must be submitted on the Monday prior to the council meeting on Tuesday.
– The CEO of the City of Casey is Michael Tyler, who was found guilty in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court over failure to report a conflict of interest in council business, yet, has been fully supported by the mayor and council.
This man is highly paid and therefore the expectations of him are extremely high, particularly morally and ethically.
It is appropriate to point out the City of Casey has no money – it all comes from the ratepayers.
It is our money ’Ralph’ that they are spending. This point is probably applicable to state and federal governments as well.
Arvo Talvik,
Cranbourne.
