Colour your life

By BRIDGET COOK

GET ready to get colourful in Lynbrook this month for the second annual HoIi Festival of Colours.
The Lynbrook Residents Association (LRA) and Jasmine Stores are hosting the festival at Banjo Paterson Park on Saturday 15 March.
From 4.30 to 7.30pm the park will turn into a sea of colour where everyone will dowse each other in coloured powder, with music and entertainment to get everyone into the festive spirit.
Then from 7.30pm, there will be a free moonlit Bollywood cinema screening of Bride and Prejudice.
LRA events manager Vanessa Watson said last year’s event attracted 600 people and they were expecting bigger numbers this year.
“Holi Festival of Colours is a traditional Hindu celebration held annually,” she said.
“It’s a vibrant and exciting event where people are encouraged to dowse themselves and those around them in colour.
“The colour is provided by way of a coloured powder dye, which is thrown copiously to the point that everyone participating is eventually rainbow coloured.
“It’s a high-spirited event in which everyone has lots of fun.”
Coloured powder will be available for purchase on the day in 200g packets at $3 a bag and people are encouraged to wear white.
The event has something for everyone with music by DJ Ash, Bollywood dancers and assortment of Indian cuisine for purchase.
Those staying for the movie are encouraged to bring an FM radio to tune into the audio.
