RIVERCREST Christian College has been authorised by the International Baccalaureate (IB) as an official World School.
IB World Schools gain access to the foundation’s programs of education, professional development and a worldwide network of IB World Schools that work together to share practices.
Hillcrest Christian College in Clyde North opened Rivercrest in January 2014 and gained accreditation with IB in less than 18 months.
Teaching three-year-old Kinder up to Grade 2, Rivercrest wants to expand the school and will take on new classes as the school progresses.
Head of the school Dr Michelle Cafini said the authorisation was a momentous occasion for the young school.
“Authorisation usually takes approximately three years.
“The staff at Rivercrest have worked exceptionally hard to implement the programme since our college opened,” Dr Cafini said.
Teaching at Rivercrest takes on a transdisciplinary approach which enables the students to make connections between their learning and their developing worldview.
Dr Cafini said all learning experiences at the school are designed to be engaging, relevant, meaningful and significant.
“Rivercrest is an exciting educational option for parents in the City of Casey; Rivercrest offers a curriculum that is grounded in 21st Century thinking where all facets of education are connected and interlinked, we embrace an inquiry approach to learning within the context of a Christian worldview,” she said.
