A MAN charged with assault, theft and alcohol-related offences has been told by a court he would not be bailed to stay at Prince Mark Hotel, Doveton.
A lawyer on behalf of Bradley Laidlaw, 27, of Jamieson, submitted to the court on Monday 28 September that a month’s accommodation had been paid for at the hotel.
Magistrate Jack Vandersteen responded: “What sort of people go to Prince Mark Hotel?”
Laidlaw had been arrested on 10 September after police allegedly observed his car losing traction and sliding sideways into the hotel’s car park about 2.20am.
At the time, Laidlaw was allegedly staying at the hotel, had two outstanding arrest warrants and a suspended probationary driver’s licence.
The applicant then allegedly ran from police, became aggressive, yelled and screamed, forcing police to restrain him in a three-point hold.
Police deemed that the applicant was too aggressive to be interviewed at the time.
Laidlaw successfully applied for CREDIT bail on strict conditions to stay with a Glen Waverley friend and her husband.
As part of Laidlaw’s bail conditions, he was banned from attending liquor-licensed premises and gaming venues.
The applicant was also placed on a night curfew, and ordered to report tri-weekly to police.
