Fine eyes on traffic

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

THE first red-light camera has finally been installed at a treacherous Narre Warren intersection.
The camera, set up at the intersection of Narre Warren North and Ernst Wanke roads, was approved last year under the previous State Government and will become operational in the first half of 2016.
It followed a vigorous local campaign, which saw a 400-signature petition presented to State Parliament.
Roads Minister and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said 12 crashes had occurred at the hazardous intersection in the last five years.
The new cameras will be able to detect both speed and red-light offences.
“We’re making this intersection safer for everyone including school children from Mary MacKillop Primary School,” Mr Donnellan said.
