A 20-YEAR-OLD Hampton Park driver on his P-plates was caught drink driving after blowing more than twice the legal limit.
The man was one of 16 drink drivers caught after police conducted a two-day drink driving operation over the weekend in the Stonnington police service area.
Police also booked people for 17 other driver offences during the operation, which is ongoing in Stonnington during Fridays and Saturdays.
Prahran Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Peter Shrimpton said it was disturbing to see so many young drivers, specifically P-platers, drink driving.
“They’re putting their lives and the lives of their passengers at risk through poor decision making,” he said.
“This coupled with multiple offences for failing to wear seatbelts and too many peer passengers in their vehicles is a recipe for disaster.
“What is it going to take for them to realise that a zero limit means zero alcohol before driving?”
