A NEW fixed speed camera will be switched on soon in Narre Warren.
The Narre Warren camera will be located at the corner of Narre Warren North and Ernst Wanke roads and is the first of 18 new cameras to be activated in coming months.
Variable message signs will be in place, warning drivers that they will be enforced soon and will stay in place for a fortnight after the activation of the cameras.
Superintendent Kevin Sheridan said he was pleased that the community was beginning to understand that cameras saved lives.
“More than 300 residents signed a petition to have the camera at Narre Warren installed,” he said.
“It is encouraging to see local communities being pro-active towards keeping people safe on our roads.
The cameras will begin enforcement in October and the messaging will change to “cameras now enforcing”.
