TRAFFIC on the Monash Freeway is about to get even crazier as temporary lane markers and yellow lines are rolled out to prepare for widening works.
Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan made the announcement on Sunday 30 October that there will be traffic changes on the freeway between Eastlink and Clyde Road in both directions.
These changes will have lanes realigned and speed limits reduced on the freeway through Dandenong, Doveton, Hallam, Narre Warren and Berwick.
“We are alerting drivers to these works so they can consider the impact on their daily commute and plan ahead for the change in traffic conditions,” Mr Donnellan said.
“We’re asking motorists to be patient, allow extra travel time and drive safely.
“We thank you for your patience while works are underway.”
Due to the shoulder strengthening works that have been underway since 18 September, the freeway will continue to have the same number of lanes open during peak-times as construction begins.
The upgrading of the Monash Freeway is scheduled to be completed by 2018 and will see about 30kms of extra lanes added to the road.
