A man has pleaded guilty to stealing a safe during a brazen daylight burglary of a Fountain Gate donut outlet.
Adrian Peter Jacobsson, of Pakenham, had entered the Donut King’s rear “staff only” zone and closed the door behind him about 2.45pm on 5 January, Dandenong Magistrates’ Court heard.
A minute and a half later, Jacobsson emerged with a safe stashed up his jumper.
He later told police that he’d cracked the safe open – with its $1138.20 of cash inside – at a nearby park and put it in a bin.
Jacobsson also pleaded guilty to drink-driving, driving while suspended and driving an unregistered vehicle in Officer on 31 January.
Being ‘licensed’ to not exceed .00, Jacobsson blew 0.047.
Between these two incidents, Jacobsson had been put on a community corrections order with mental health and substance treatment and judicial monitoring at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court in January.
On 29 May, magistrate Pauline Spencer took into account the offending either pre-dated or was “early days” into Jacobsson’s treatment regime.
Jacobsson was put on another six-month corrections order with similar conditions.
Ms Spencer didn’t cancel Jacobsson’s licence to help his quest for employment. However the accused was still serving a VicRoads-imposed licence suspension.
