Green thumbs enjoy day of planting fun

More than 300 residents rolled up their sleeves to plant to participate in Casey Council’s Plant Your Roots event on Sunday 29 July.

The day was a chance for the community to plant more than 11000 Indigenous plants at Hessell Road in Harkaway.

The planting activities also provided opportunities for improved habitat of local species and for residents to get in touch with their environment.

Plant your Roots is aligned with Australia’s ‘National Tree Day’ to bring this broader project to a local level.

Council aims to achieve fantastic environmental outcomes through the project which has grown in popularity.
