17-year-old charged with 42 offences

Last week, at approximately 7pm police observed a grey Mitsubishi Magna sedan bearing stolen registration plates travelling on Heatherton Road, Dandenong.

Police Airwing took over observations and members from the SD3 Frontline Tactical Unit attempted to intercept the vehicle on Heatherton Road, Endeavour Hills, which then began driving erratically and failed to stop.

Police Airwing continued observations and followed the vehicle through Endeavour Hills, Hallam, Hampton Park and Narre Warren.

On Narre Warren Cranbourne Road, Dandenong members on the ground deployed a Tire Deflation Device which disabled the vehicle. The vehicle pulled over and the two occupants were arrested.

The driver, a 17 year old man from Frankston North was wanted for a number driving offences in the Frankston area.

He was charged with 42 offences including Reckless Conduct Endanger Serious Injury, Dangerous Driving Whilst Pursued by Police, Fail to Stop Vehicle on Police Direction, Drive in a Manner Dangerous, Drive at a Speed Dangerous, Learner Driver Without Experienced Driver, Theft, Theft From Motor Vehicle, Handle Stolen Goods and various other traffic offences.

He was remanded in custody and will reappear at a Children’s Court this week.

The passenger, an 18 year old woman from Skye was also questioned and released pending further enquiries.
