Casey’s green festival makes sustainability fun

Sustainability is coming to Casey with the Green Living in Casey Expo 2019, on Saturday 16 November in the Bunjil Place plaza.

This free, family-friendly event will be packed with inspiring ways to shine a light on all things sustainable.

There will be free workshops, eco-friendly market stalls and plenty to entertain the kids, including animal encounters, a roving bubble performer, face painting and badge-making.

There will also be a Casey recycling truck for children to explore, free collectable wildlife cards and smoothie bikes for visitors to mix their own drink with pedal-power.

Stalls will include health products, organic food, sustainable baby ideas, upcycling and more.

Roving Refills will be there, refilling containers with bulk green cleaning products.

City of Casey mayor Cr Susan Serey highlighted how the festival provides the community with opportunities to learn from a range of sustainability experts.

“There will be various free talks throughout the day on topics such as composting, wildlife-friendly gardening, energy efficiency, and making your own beeswax wraps,” she said.

“The Sikh community will be on hand, serving up delicious curries for a gold coin donation and there will be a coffee van offering organic coffee, so remember to bring your own reusable cup and bag!”
