Casey has recorded five new cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours to Thursday 1 October.
It comes as Victoria recorded 15 new cases along with two deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 800.
Six active cases have been linked to the Casey community outbreak of Covid-19 infections after five households broke the stay-at-home rules to travel outside their 5km radius and visit each other last month, which grew to more than 30 cases.
Casey’s active cases have however dropped to 13 after reaching 349 on 19 August.
One new active case had been recorded since 27 September.
Just eight days ago Casey had 35 active cases.
In neighbouring local government areas Greater Dandenong had 10 active cases and Cardinia zero.
Seven of the 15 new cases have been linked to known outbreaks or complex cases. The other eight cases remain under investigation.
Active cases have also dropped with infected health care workers, which is now a total of 45.
Sadly, the two latest deaths have been linked to known aged care facility outbreaks.
The consistently low infection numbers do however mean Melbourne’s crucial 14-day average remains firmly below 20, standing at 15.6.
Regional Victoria’s rolling average is 0.3.
Meanwhile, Victoria Police issued 80 fines to individuals for breaching the Chief Health Officer directions in the 24 hours to 1 October including seven for failing to wear a face covering and 14 at vehicle checkpoints.
Examples of people breaching the rules include:
• Two men located in Boroondara, more than 5km from their homes, without a permitted reason. They explained they were going to their friend’s house to have a haircut.
• A man was found waiting outside an electronics store in Maribyrnong, wanting to buy a PS4 controller. He was more than 5km from home and was not wearing a mask.
