Operation Trident cleans up the streets

Police have arrested and charged 20 people for a range of offences including drug charges, weapons offences and driving offences as part of Operation Trident.

Officers checked over 400 people and conducted almost 300 searches between Thursday 25 November and Saturday 27 November at high risk areas in Casey, Cardinia and Greater Dandenong including Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre and Pakenham and Cranbourne station, specifically targeting weapons offences.

Other offences committed included possessing a drug of dependence and armed robbery.

Police seized 16 grams of ice with an estimated street value of $13,000 and a number of weapons, including knives and batons as part of the arrests.

They also impounded a vehicle driven by a P-plate driver who recorded a blood alcohol reading of .189.

Trident is an ongoing operation that will be conducted regularly throughout summer.
