Fun run raises big cash

By BRIDGET SCOTT

NARRE Warren North Contours owners are excited to have raised about $10,000 for breast cancer research.
Last Sunday 12 May, Owners Sandra Rotumm and Carol Bosward organised a Mother’s Day Fun Run event at Lysterfield Lake, and were proud to see over 500 registrations for the day.
The pair said it gave City of Casey residents the chance to become involved in such events, without having to travel to the city for the annual Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run.
“Not everybody has time to be up for the city event,” Carol said.
“It gives local people and their families an opportunity, when they wouldn’t go into the city.”
After they raised around $8000 last year, the owners are confident they have beaten that record in the second year running for the event.
Carol said the run or walk was a great way to start the honourable day, and paid tribute to those who had suffered from breast cancer or knew someone who suffered.
“It’s a great way for people to give tribute and to support someone they love,” Carol said.
Long distance swimmer Tammy Van Wiise attended as the Master of Ceremonies, and congratulated competitors as they crossed the line.
Owners of the Narre Warren North Contours also mentioned how it was great to utilise local facilities for such a great cause.
“A lot of local people don’t realise the wonderful facility that we have on our doorstep,” the fitness advisors said.
Sandra and Carol thanked Berwick Contours for helping out on the day, as well as Parks Victoria and the many volunteers.
“It would not be possible without them,” the pair said.
