STUDENTS at Fountain Gate Primary School were treatedto a range of healthy snacks last week.
As part of Celebrating Learning Week, the Narre Warren school was visited by the Marketfresh Schools Program.
The program is an initiative of the Melbourne Market Authority to help promote the dailyconsumption of fresh fruits and vegetable by children in all schools.
Teacher Margot Tregear said the students learnt about topics including the processes involved n growing fruits and vegetables and delivering them to homes, the difference between fruit and vegetables and the importance of eating them daily.
“The program finished with question time, and a tasting of fresh seasonal products such as oranges, bananas, celery, pears, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes, asparagus, capsicum, avocados, bean shoots, alfalfa as well as some more exotic items,” she said.
