Winning week for Parkers

HAMPTON Park Bowls Club had a good week with four wins – three away on difficult greens.
The A2 ladies side went to Burden Park and was level on shots at the completion of the game and it was the percentage adjustment that gave the Parkers the win.
After getting off to a rocky start, Gail Wilcock, Rhonda Diaper, Rob Woff and skip Grace Hogan got the momentum going to win by 15.75 shots (30-14.25).
Alan Wilcock, Ellen Smith, Ann Westwell and Chris Hendrie held off a late run to win by three shots (24-21).
Sheila Scothorne, John Scothorne, Ray Wood and skip Geri Graafsma had to be content with playing follow the leader to go down by 11.25 shots (13-24.25).
In a close-fought game, Dot Carr, Keith McCarthy, Gwen Clough and skip Heather Naismith finished just two shots short of a win (19-21).
Scores: A2 Hampton Park 2-86 d Burden Park 0-80.5.

COMPETITION

Noble Park travelled to Moorabbin to score a close six-shot win.
Jim Westwell, Ann Westwell, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight had to be content with mainly singles in their loss by 10 (16-26).
This rink was very evenly matched with Ray Leggett, Chris Hendrie, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie settling for a draw (17-17).
The closeness of the game was probable because three club singles champions were against each other.
The big win of 16 shots came from Ray Wood, Keith Damon, Lance Davis and skip Geoff Ladner which got the Parkers the overall win (26-10).
Scores: S.D.E.L.B.A. Hampton Park 8-59 d Moorabbin 4-53.
