THE glory days of the Hallam Hotel were to be relived with legendary rocker Jimmy Barnes next month but the singer has cancelled his show.
Barnes was to be the first stand up show in four years at the venue once famed for hosting some of the biggest live music acts in Australia.
However, Barnes pulled out of the concert after it was announced he would undergo surgery to replace a faulty aortic valve on 22 February.
A brand new stage was set to welcome Barnes and the performance was generating talk about the famous venue reverting to its former place as a home to live music in the south-east.
Interest was sparked back in April last year when more than 500 people signed an online petition calling for the Hallam Hotel to revert to its former mantra of music.
Berwick resident Shaun Thomas formed the petition and had people from Narre Warren, Endeavour Hills, Berwick and Cranbourne signing the form.
Residents from as far away as Mentone, Greensborough, Croydon and McKinnon also expressed their support.
The petition came after a Fountain Gate nightclub was shut and calls were made for more nightclub venues to open in the Casey area.
The event is to be rescheduled at a later date this year.
