CASEY residents aged 55 and over have been urged to attend a housing forum to learn about options and support services for older residents.
The Doveton and Eumemmerring community will host the forum on Thursday, 25 May in conjunction with the Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG), Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal and the City of Casey.
Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal community development coordinator Terri Fallows said the ‘ageing positively in Casey plan’ had identified housing as being integral to health and well-being.
She said the forum would look at options to help people stay in their homes longer as well as highlighting various support services.
Presentations will be given by HAAG, the Office of Housing and City of Casey Aged services. A range of service providers such as Commonwealth Carers Respite Centre, Royal District Nursing Service, housing and support service WAYSS, consumer affairs and Centrelink will attend.
Hanover, an organisation that assists homeless people and those facing homelesness, the Brotherhood of St Laurence, the Neighbourhood Renewal and City of Casey will also have stalls.
The free forum runs from 10am to 1pm at the Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Oak Avenue.
