NARRE Warren State Emergency Service members had a rare experience last Saturday night.
A distressed cow was stuck in thick mud in Narre Warren and required rescuing by a crew of six volunteers.
Narre Warren SES spokeswoman Kanny Lee said volunteers used their hands to remove the mud so they could pass a sling under the cow’s stomach.
“Once we got the cow to the top of the embankment the cow rested for a few moments then slowly got up and walked away,” Ms Lee said.
She said the rescue took two hours to complete.
An RSPCA official was also on hand to make sure the cow was as safe as possible throughout the ordeal.
