CASEY residents flocked to Centro Cranbourne and Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centres during Arbor week, collecting around 20,000 native plants for their gardens.
Mayor Kevin Bradford visited the City of Casey plant stalls and said the strong turnout of residents each collecting their two free plant tubes kept council volunteers busy, and hopefully would result in a greener Casey.
“The free native plants including trees, shrubs, and groundcovers on offer, are well suited to Casey’s environment and climate, and now is the time to plant them,” he said.
Cr Bradford said that many residents taking part in the plant giveaway were impressed by the growth of the free native plants they collected and planted during last year’s Arbor week giveaway.
