TIMBARRA Primary School commemorated Anzac Day on Monday when students shared a series of poems during a moving ceremony.
Students from the Berwick school organised the entire service and grade three/four teacher Craig Nicholls said the event gave students the opportunity to pay their respects and ensure that the Anzac day tradition was passed on to future generations.
The school choir performed Lest We Forget and grade five and six students also sang And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.
Mr Nicholls said students read five poems including Anzac Day, For the Fallen, the Spirit of Anzac and In Flanders Field.
The Last Post was also played as the Australian flag was lowered and raised again and the entire school, comprising 550 students, sang We Are Australian at the ceremony’s close.
