CASEY teenagers can hit the dance floor in style this Sunday with an underage dance event in Berwick.
Berwick’s Blitz nightclub will host the third drug- and alcohol-free event as part of a joint partnership between Casey police, Casey City Council and Berwick Springs Hotel owner Sam Castello.
The fully supervised event targets young people aged from 14 to 17 years of age and aims to provide the city’s under-age youth with a safe, alcohol-free venue where they can dance and socialise.
More than 400 local teens attended the first underage event last November and Narre Warren Youth Resource Officer Senior Constable Dave Smith said this was a great way for young people to spend their school holidays.
“This event is fully supervised by police and hotel staff and is a great opportunity for young people to relax and spend time with their friends in a safe environment,” Sen Const Smith said.
Tickets are available at the door, but as the venue only caters for 600 people Sen Const Smith said it was important that people pre-purchased their tickets to avoid disappointment.
The underage dance event starts at 6pm and finishes at 10pm.
Sen Const Smith reminded parents to attend promptly at 10pm to collect their children.
Entry is $20 and includes unlimited soft drink.
Mr Castello has said any profits from the underage evenings would be distributed back into the community to support other youth programs throughout Casey.
