RECORD number of golfers teed off at last week’s Mayoral Shield Charity Golf Day.
More than 200 golfers flocked to the Berwick Montuna Golf Club on Thursday to support the Rotary clubs of Narre Warren and Endeavour Hills at the annual City of Casey event.
Organiser Roger McGill, from Narre Warren Rotary Club, said the event raised about $18,000 for local charity projects. “It was a great result. Every year we are attracting more players and raising more money,” he said.
Mr McGill, who has been running the event for 18 years, said the clubs also conducted raffles on the day.
The president of Narre Warren Rotary Club, Ian Pickering, said he was delighted with the day, and that all proceeds would be used to support projects at both clubs.
“We would like to thank the businesses who supported the event, such as the major sponsor, Bev Marks Beds Australia,” he said.
