POLICE are highlighting the danger of fireworks after Casey detective charged two men with possessing explosives and proceeds of crime.
They said they discovered fireworks valued at more than $200,000 after search warrants were executed in Cranbourne and Beaconsfield.
A Cranbourne man, 33, and a Beaconsfield man, 35, will appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 24 March.
Casey residents should remember that fireworks are illegal, says Detective Leading Senior Constable Chris Russo.
Det Leading Sen Const Russo said police noticed an increase in fireworks throughout the state at this time of year.
“When the warmer weather is here people take fireworks to camp sites and set them off to celebrate New Years,” he said.
“Many people have been killed by fireworks in the past few years,” he said.
