Every bit counts

FOUNTAIN gate High School contributed to more than $100,000 raised by Victorian schools for the annual Good Friday Appeal
After months of fundraising, the school managed to contribute $1025.25.
Students from the local school were then invited to Etihad Stadium on Good Friday to present the school’s offering.
Deputy director of the Good Friday Appeal Emoke Bakacs said the contributions from schools are invaluable.
“The school contributions are paramount,” she said.
“Not only in terms of funds received by this sector, but also the participation of students is a valuable exercise.”
Ms Bakacs mentioned how foundations like this are often close to home for school students, with many having experienced friends with illnesses, or an illness themselves.
“No doubt, in most schools, there are students who have been patients in the Royal Children’s Hospital,” she said.
Ms Bakacs said each year the hospital decided on a different piece of equipment to purchase with the funds raised from schools.
“This year the hospital nominated ultrasound devices for the paediatric intensive care unit – we will be able to purchase a few of these from funds raised by the school community,” she said.
