Borchert announces it’s over

By BRIDGET SCOTT

THE FUTURE of the A-Grade side at Hampton Park is unclear after the senior captain and coach was forced to call it quits at the club.
Kayla Borchert made the decision to leave the club last week, resulting in Hampton Park being unable to court a side last weekend against Pakenham.
The former coach said she has decided to commence training with the pines in the Peninsula Netball League, and will assess her future options in regards to playing and coaching at the end of the year. Kayla said while it’s a negative reflection on herself and the club, the decision was made after she decided she had to ease off commitment and responsibilities that she had this year.
The combination of a full-time job and university meant she found it hard to make a full commitment to netball coaching and playing.
“I’ve already got a job and trying to finish my last year at university it’s really impacted on my enjoyment of Netball and other aspects of my life,” she said.
“I genuinely do feel remorseful to all the players and wonderful netball mums and supporters at the club for leaving.”
She said after she spent her past seven years at the club, it was time for her to take a break and get back to enjoying the sport.
She also thanked the players and members of the Hampton Park Football and Netball Club for their support.
“Every single one of you made my time at the club memorable in some way, shape or form and the friendships I made will definitely withstand my absence from the Casey-Cardinia Football and Netball league,” she said.
