Plants seized in police raid

MORE than a 1000 cannabis plants were seized by police this morning after two hydroponic crop factories were discovered in Berwick and Pakenham.
The Pakenham Tactical Anti-Crime Team (TACT) located the factories this morning after executing search warrants at properties in Intrepid Street, Berwick, and Bormar Drive, Pakenham, as part of an ongoing operation into drug trafficking in the outer southern suburbs.
Police arrested a woman aged in her 20s at the Berwick address and she was due to be interviewed by investigators this morning.
Pakenham Tactical Anti Crime Team Sergeant Richard Dawson said there were more than 1000 plants being grown in the two sophisticated hydroponic factories.
“Plants seized on this scale have the potential to make a real difference to supply throughout the southern suburbs,” he said.
“This operation will be on-going in order to reduce the threat of illicit drugs in the community.”
