AIMEE Robson had always wanted to compete in The Block.
And in 2015 the 27-year-old from Berwick has been given her chance.
Aimee and her cousin Brooke, from Pakenham, are one of six new teams competing in the upcoming series of The Block Triple Threat.
“I’ve always wanted to do it,” Aimee said.
“Then I saw an ad for this new series and thought ‘Stuff it, I’ll give it a try’.
“I put up a post on Facebook about it to see who wanted to apply with me.”
Aimee received many eager responses to her post, from her cousin and others, and was eager to try out for the show with Brooke “because she’s family”.
Aimee applied for the show with little experience behind her, apart from completing furniture restoration as a hobby.
“I’ve always had a thing for design and interior design,” Aimee said.
“I wanted to give it a go and get some ideas from it. I love it.
“It’s something different and it’s fun getting creative – I’m happiest when I’m doing stuff like that.”
But being on The Block doesn’t come without its trials and tribulations.
“It’s the most tiring thing I’ve done in my life,” Aimee said.
“You don’t get to sleep, unless you don’t want to have a room finished.
“There’s no time to stop. You try and fit things in and things go wrong. Shops aren’t open at night so you have to make sure you’ve already been.
“I also thought when watching the show that it wasn’t real how people ran out of time, I thought it was just for TV but it’s actually real.
“And I knew there were cameras but I didn’t expect them to be so constant either.”
But despite her lack of building experience, Aimee said she picked up the tricks of the trade pretty quickly.
“The first ceiling I painted in the house was the first project I’d ever done, and it was on The Block,” she said.
“If you have ideas and a steady hand to paint, then you’re fine.”
The Block Triple Threat will air on Channel Nine at 7.30pm on Tuesday 27 January.
