A NARRE Warren girl will face attempted murder charges over an alleged stabbing near Fountain Gate Shopping Centre on Friday.
Casey CIU detectives allege 16-year-old Pakenham girl Monica Hawkins was stabbed in the neck in Magid Drive, Narre Warren, about 1pm on 5 June.
She was rushed by air ambulance to the The Alfred hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday investigators arrested a 16-year-old Narre Warren girl.
The girl has been remanded in custody after facing a children’s court on Wednesday.
Monica’s sister Tiffany Watts, 22, fronted the media on the weekend to speak about her injured sister.
“I have lost all faith in humanity now … I just need to know why you did it,” she said.
Ms Watts said Monica, who woke on Saturday morning, did not remember the attack, and had no known enemies and had not spoken of any threats.
“She’s funny, she likes to have fun, she’s there … for anyone who needs help,” she said.
It’s understood Ms Hawkins was cut on the left side of her neck down to her collarbone.
Ms Watts said doctors had told the family Monica was lucky and the angle of the weapon had saved her from more serious injuries.
Family friend Kristy Orlando told reporters she had been left rocked by the ordeal.
“Who could possibly have wanted to hurt her?” she said.
On Wednesday a spokesman for The Alfred confirmed Monica had been discharged.
