SUSTAINABILITY is a priority at Beaconsfield Dental – and it’s paid off.
Robert and Lisa Panjkov’s dental practice has been named the winner of the 2015 Casey-Cardinia Business Award in the Environmental Sustainability category.
After only 18 months in operation, the owners of the practice have taken several measures to preserve the environment.
Over 60 solar panels line the roof of the practice, linked to a device displaying the electricity generated as well as the CO2 and money saved.
Located in one of the treatment rooms, patients are regularly shown the device and educated on the benefits of solar power.
The design of the building also includes low allergy pain, double glazing, LED lighting and insulation in the walls, ceilings and floors.
Practice manager Lisa said sustainability had been a focus from the very beginning.
“Beaconsfield Dental provides all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry and is committed to both the community and the environment,” she said.
“We aim to stand out by providing exceptional modern facilities, technological advances, all persons access, environmental sustainability, with patient care our main priority.”
They’ve also kept sustainability at the forefront in the development of the business.
“Future development, when permitted, will allow us to increase the number of solar panels as the roof has been designed to accommodate many more panels,” Lisa said.
“The building is on stumps to allow space for future battery backup to give us independence from the grid.”
Water tanks with a 10,000 litre capacity also service the toilets and drip sprinkler system onto the garden, which includes over 500 indigenous plants.
Biodegradable patient bibs and cups as well as environmentally friendly kitchen and cleaning products and a largely paperless office are all simple steps that make a real difference – Baconsfield Dental even has a compost bin.
Their focus on environmental sustainability, as well as exceptional service and care, truly sets them apart from the competition.
