POLICE are investigating an imposter Facebook account purporting to be Casey Councillor Rosalie Crestani.
Cr Crestani has reported the account, which used her name and photo, to police and Facebook after she found out about it last Friday 26 February.
It appears the page has since been taken down.
Cr Crestani told Star News the account was being used to “discredit” her, with derogatory comments posted on the site.
“They’ve used photos without authorisation, it’s not just a copyright breach but they’re pretending to be me to attack the Aboriginal community, which I am absolutely horrified by,” she said.
“ … These people should not get away with it.”
Cr Crestani was last year appointed the deputy president of the hard-right Rise Up Australia Party (RUAP), which uses the slogan ‘Keep Australia Australian’ and is run by controversial Catch the Fire Ministries pastor Danny Nalliah.
Cr Crestani has been a member of the RUAP since early 2013 and ran as candidate for the group in the 2014 State Election, as well as the most recent Federal Election.
