REMEMBRANCE Day was observed early at Endeavour Hills war memorial on 8 November.
Students, police officers and veterans observed an 11am minute’s silence and laid wreaths and poppies to pay respects to those who have died or suffered in wars and armed conflicts.
The service held by Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL sub branch was kept deliberately brief, featuring the traditional elements – the bugled Last Post, Reveille, the Ode, prayer, national anthem and the hymn ‘God Save the Queen’.
The stand-to address was delivered by RSL sub-branch president John Wells.
Students from James Cook and Thomas Mitchell primary schools attended.
Berwick RSL will hold a Remembrance Day service at the High Street memorial in Berwick from 10.40am on 11 November.
Major Guy Warnock will deliver an address.
There will also be Remembrance Day services from 10.50am at the Cranbourne cenotaph, West side of High Street and the Pillars of Freedom, Clow Street, Dandenong.
