Inner Wheel Club of Berwick celebrates 50 years

Past and present members of the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick.

Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick together with past members, friends and family recognised 50 years of friendship and service to the community with a celebratory luncheon at the City of Casey’s Bunjil Place.

Inner Wheel Australia (IWA) president June Muller travelled from Mandurah in WA to be there to present Berwick’s president Diana Nutter with a new club collar in recognition of this significant milestone.

City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon thanked members for their continued contribution to the community and made a presentation to Ms Nutter.

The stunning and delicious birthday cake was made by member Lucy Rowlands and the club’s longest serving member Beryl Exell (96 years young) had the privilege of cutting it.

17 past presidents were present and much time was spent reminiscing over memorabilia featuring past members and events from times gone by.

Although as expected the general focus was on the past, as a result of the clubs recent vigorous membership recruitment program, four new members including Adele Withers, Effie Atkins, Sue Oates and Angela Patti were inducted on the day by IWA Ms Muller.

After 50 years the club is still growing and evolving to meet both the needs of members and the local community.
