Police swoop on vehicle crime

Police have carried out two raids in Cranbourne North, charging four people following a string of vehicle, theft and drug offences.

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives, together with the Divisional Response Unit Fugitive Team executed a warrant at an address on Sabel Drive on Wednesday 12 February and recovered allegedly stolen property including a Honda Odyssey van, number plates, identification and credit cards.

An imitation firearm was also found, police say.

A 26-year-old man, who was allegedly hiding inside a bin at the address, was arrested at the scene.

He was charged with a range of offences including theft from motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and handle stolen goods, and was remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 19 February.

Separate arrests were made by police Thursday 13 February in relation to alleged theft from motor vehicle, drug and property offences.

A warrant was executed at an address on Strzelecki Court, Cranbourne North, where allegedly stolen property including identification cards, power tools and a Yamaha motorcycle were located.

A quantity of GHB and a substance suspected to be methylamphetamine were also seized.

A 30-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were both arrested and charged with theft from motor vehicle, obtain property by deception, possess drug of dependence and handle stolen goods.

Both were remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested at the scene after allegedly being found with methylamphetamine and cannabis.

He was charged with possess drug of dependence and bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 26 March.
