The Casey Community Market is once more looking to make its run this coming Saturday, 24 May, as stalls, booths, food trucks and more are looking to make the gloomy weekend a bit brighter.
Jacqui Leeanne, the market’s organiser, is more than keen for the show to begin, beginning at 10am and closing off at 2pm at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Hampton Park.
“You’ll mostly see homemade crafts and similar things, and that’s where I really want to go with it,” Jacqui said.
“It’s to, you know, give the people who make their own things a place to come and sell them, and show them to the community.”
When asked what visitors should expect to see, Jacqui provided a swathe of items, from things such as candles, toys, ingredients, and more.
Being her third time organising it, Jacqui is looking to foster a place where the local community in Hampton Park, and many others from Casey, can gather and engage with one another.
The event, just like the two before, will be held in the church premises, with a good portion of the stalls run by members of and patrons of said church.
“There weren’t really many things like it going on around the area, and I thought, well, it really needs to happen,” Jacqui said.
“It does help the church, it is a fundraising opportunity, but at the same time, it’s a lot more than that, it’s a place for the community to come together, and have a space to enjoy.”
Despite being the primary organiser, Jacqui isn’t a big fan of calling it ‘her’ market.
While it’s true that she may direct its motion, she tells the stallholders that it’s “our market” and remains adamant that it’s a “place where everybody’s comfortable”.
Looking forward to the Saturday event, she’s keen on the market growing, eager to see more people coming to enjoy the community spirit.
