Grants for young talent

STATE government grants will allow young Casey residents to show off their talents during National Youth Week in April.
The City of Casey received $2000 to run the Rock ‘n’ Skate event during the special event from 1 to 10 April.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region Liberal MP Inga Peulich said National Youth Week provided a wonderful opportunity for young people across Casey to celebrate and be acknowledged for their contributions to the community,” she said.
“The City of Casey will be staging an outdoor skate competition and live music event in partnership with YMCA Skate Services.”
Ms Peulich said the skate competition would include skateboarding, scooting and BMX divisions and young musicians will perform.
“In 2010, more than 20,000 young Victorians took part in the celebrations and we hope even more will get involved this year,” she said.
“The theme for National Youth Week 2011 is ‘Own It’ and the Casey community should be encouraging young people to do exactly that – celebrating their talents, ideas, contributions and achievements.”
The National Youth Week 2011 grants have been made available through a partnership between the Victorian Government, Federal Government and beyondblue: the national depression initiative, through its Youthbeyondblue program.
