CASEY Little Athletics Centre starred in its short trip down Berwick-Cranbourne Road for the Little Athletics Victoria State Track and Field Championships.
Hosted by neighbouring club Cranbourne Little Athletics Centre at Casey Fields, the Casey kids surged around, despite the wind and rain buffeting the area, to claim a great collection of medals.
Ethan Harris was the toast of the town, picking up two gold medals in the Under 12 boys category as he charged over the 60m and 80m hurdles to retain his hard-earned state titles. He also claimed bronze in the 400m to round out an impressive day at Casey Fields.
Josie Lawton was victorious in the Under 11 girls 80m as well and Nikola Mandic continued his walk towards success with another state title in the 1500m walk.
Lawton also finished second in the 60m hurdles, while Rhianna Clemow (80m hurdles), Hayley Woolfe (1500m walk), Bailley Morrell (1500m), Bec Henderseon (1500m walk), Aiden Saluni-Kettle (100m hurdles) and Sam Merrick (300m hurdles) also surged to silver.
Rounding out the medal-mania were Soha Abdelharim (1100m walk), Jennifer Audy (800m), Lawton (800m), Clemow (60m hurdles), Jamie Lee Code (800m), Caitlyn McCormick shot put) and Merrick (100m hurdles).
It brought an end to a big year on and off the track for Casey Little Athletics Centre, following the completion of the $2 million redevelopment for Edwin Flack Athletics Track. The centre now transitions into cross country season, which will start in April.
