Narre Warren students have captured bagloads of trash from a popular section of Cardinia Creek in Berwick.

Ten VCAL students at Narre Community Learning Centre honed in on the area beside Akoonah Park, filling five large bags with plastic discards, filled dog-poo bags and polystyrene.

The students had driven the project out of a desire to clean up their local environment. The site was chosen in consultation with Casey Council, teacher Bron O’Callaghan said.

The group will follow-up for a second cleaning later this year.
