It’s back to reality

NARRE WARREN BOWLS

Saturday Division 2 played top side Mulgrave for bragging rights as the winner would be clearly top of the ladder.
Looking forward to the challenge, Narre Warren were bought back to reality when they were given a lesson by a superior side 55/99. The only shining light was a tie to one rink.

IN THE Saturday Division-3 game played at home against Waverly Golf it was a disappointing effort with only one rink winning and three going down. The side now has an enormous job to hold on and will need to improve in the coming weeks.

IT LOOKED like another tough assignment for our Saturday Division 7 (3) side at Mulgrave but the side came away with a 40-shot win 107/67. Two outstanding performances by the rinks of John Green and Brian Fraser but even with a winning margin of 40 shots the side have dropped to third on the ladder.

TUESDAY’S Division 1 played at Cranbourne and with another narrow loss by two shots – only one rink up, one tied and the other rink lost – the side went down 68/70. The season has been disappointing for the number one side after playing in the finals last year they now find themselves in a dangerous eighth position on the ladder.

HOWEVER Tuesday’s Division-3 team continued their good form with a sound win against Fern Tree Gully at home by 23 shots 62/49. With the first round completed the side is holding on to second spot on the ladder but only one game in front of the third and fourth sides. The side now needs to carry that form into the second half of the season to keep their finals hopes alive.
