Appeal for dumped body information

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

POLICE have put out another call for any information that may help them piece together the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body at the Hallam Road Landfill last week.
Police were called to the Hampton Park facility after a machinery operator discovered the man’s body about 8am on Tuesday 9 September.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about the man’s movements prior to the discovery of his body to come forward.
Victoria Police previously reported the man was a 34-year-old from Endeavour Hills but detectives now say he was 25 years old.
The Homicide Squad attended the scene shortly after the body was found but the circumstances surrounding the man’s death were later confirmed as not being suspicious.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane O’Connell last week said police believed the body was brought in by a truck sometime on Tuesday morning and dumped, but were unsure how long the man had been dead.
“The coroner is investigating at the moment and will do a post-mortem,” he said.
“It’s very disturbing.
“No-one deserves to be in the position this gentlemen has found himself in.”
It’s understood police are planning to set up an information caravan in relation to the incident in the next few weeks.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
