CARDINIA BEACONHILLS GOLF

SATURDAY at Cardinia Beaconhills saw the final of the club’s handicap matchplay title take place, the Frank Nightingale Trophy, with the match played between Jeff Hall (16) and Warren Sutton (3).
Both players had performed well to make the final, winning their first four matches, and in a tight final’s struggle it was Jeff Hall who held on to take the title by winning the match one-up.
The Stroke Monthly Medal Event on Saturday was played by a field of 142 players over three grades. Winner of A Grade was Ivan Furyk (7) with 69, the B-Grade winner was David Moseley (15) with 63 and the C Grade winner and Medal winner was Robyn Lang (34) with 61.Playing off a handicap of 17, John Nowak returned the best score in Sunday’s stroke event with 67 on a count-back.
MIDWEEK
A field of 64 players competed in Tuesday’s stableford competition with Jim Harper (15) winning the A Grade with 41 points. In the B Grade, John Coleman (22) returned the best score with an impressive 43 stableford points.
Neil Gardner (13) was the A Grade winner of Thursday’s stableford competition with 38 points on a count-back, while Ron Ruth (20) was in fine form, taking out the B Grade with 44 points.
LADIES
The final round of the women’s club championships was played on Wednesday with Club Manager, Fiza Errington (3) taking the title of 2014 Women’s Club Champion with a gross score of 236. Jean Wheatley (19) was the B-Grade champion with a gross score of 286 while Sharon Lowden (29) was the C-Grade winner with 330 gross. Marilyn Ford (11) won the Veterans and aggregate nett with 226.
In Wednesday’s daily comp, Sarah French (27) returned the best nett score of 67 and won nearest the pin on the 15th hole.
