New twist to speed dating

Singles Carly Nielsen and Aaron Sellars prepare for Date My Mate at Bar EightyOne in Berwick.

WHO better to help you find true love than your best mate?
Bar EightyOne in Berwick is calling all wingmen and women to accompany their single mates to a speed dating event with a twist on Wednesday 14 September.
EightyOne general manager Gary Achari said Date My Mate was a fun way singles could look for love with the support of their best mate while enjoying live music and tapas.
Singles will sit down for fast paced five-minute sessions with potential new dates while their mate watches and gives support from the sidelines.
Mr Achari said the inaugural event was tailored for singles aged between 30-40 keen to meet potential dates in a relaxed bar setting.
“We play host to a very strong older singles scene here, so it makes good sense to formalise this in a way via Date My Mate. We know that going on dates and looking for love can be daunting, but this version of speed dating allows you to bring your mate along for that extra boost of confidence,” he said.
“We are excited about showcasing our signature tapas on the night, as well as some new menu options. In conjunction with our sponsors Peerick Wines and Let’s Unwine, attendees will not be short of delicious new wines to try either.
“The ticket price for you and your single friend will include tapas to share, a free glass of wine on arrival, live music and of course the opportunity to find love locally.“
